Growing up, sports was a huge part of my life. My father was in the military so we moved around a bunch, so sports was a constant for me that brought friends, lessons, and confidence when I needed it most. I was fortunate enough to even play at a collegiate level where it was even further ingrained in me the importance of teamwork, hard work, and understanding others. I make it a point to bring in those values to each session, while also holding the framework that it is the client's pace and process. My therapeutic stance is one that allows me to meet you where you are while supporting you as you move through life.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Martin's University in Psychology while also obtaining a minor in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology. I enjoyed Saint Martin's so much I went back and received my Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology During my time in grad school, I took on an internship with an agency in Community Mental Health where I was later hired and completed 7 years of work. The bulk of my career has been with Children and Family, but I also have experience with adults and couples. I have also done therapy within the school system making me very familiar in advocating for student success and safety. Currently I see adolescents 13 and up to middle adulthood.
I understand no two clients are alike, so I implement an array of methodologies that include, but are not limited to: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I am CBT+ certified), Solution Focused Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and Play/Expressive Therapy. I am also Gottman Certified in "The 7 Priciples for Making Marriage Work," and "Bringing Baby Home." I appreciate you taking the time to click on my picture to view my profile. The first step in starting this journey of therapy, is deciding its time for it and finding the right person to join you in this journey, so thank you for even considering me.
